Macon County Solid Waste located in Red Boiling Springs is back open after two weeks of being closed for installation of new scales. The facility was once a solid waste landfill, but has been strictly a solid waste transfer station for nearly 30 years.

There have been problems with the scales for awhile, and the county approved to have new ones installed. The new scales would be able to be moved in case a new transfer station was built. Macon Solid Waste was closed from March 25 until April this year.
